Hi! I’m Kerry. I’m a Registered Dietitian specializing in nutrition for digestive and mental health. I offer a unique form of nutrition that works through a functional medicine lens. This means I focus on in-depth clinical assessments and advanced lab testing to dig down to the root causes of your symptoms so that they can be solved rather than just managed. Together, we create a detailed food and supplement plan to restore balance, resolve deficiencies, and help your gut, brain, and body work in harmony so you can feel better physically and mentally. I see it every day, but it’s still awe inspiring to watch the power of food as medicine — to support, to heal, to nourish, and to bring you joy!

The Back Story
Before I was a dietitian, I spent many adventurous years working as an environmental and museum educator in Colorado, California, and Alaska. My experiences studying and exploring nature influence my passion for plant-based eating. It brings me joy to see a bright landscape of color on my chopping blocks and plate. It’s like bringing a little bit of nature inside, and I feel so much gratitude knowing the beautiful plants I’m eating are packed with the power to heal.
Through functional nutrition and mind-body therapies, I’ve addressed my own gastrointestinal issues, food sensitivities, mood, and energy issues. I recognize it’s up to me, every day, to make choices that sustain my improved health. I know first-hand that change is hard but, with the right tools and support, it’s possible and so worthwhile. That’s why I created Iowa City Functional Nutrition — to respond to people asking for help with personalized nutrition solutions that draw on the power of nature to support deep healing and growth.
